Andrew Bryden is Organist and Director of Music of Ripon Cathedral. Previous appointments include Assistant Organist of Ripon Cathedral and Director of Music at Ripon Cathedral Choir School, Head of Academic Music at St. Edmund’s School, Canterbury, Organ Scholar of Canterbury Cathedral, and assistant Organist of St. Andrew’s Cathedral, Aberdeen. Andrew studied music at Aberdeen University, and specialised in performance and editorial techniques. His organ teachers included Roger Bevan Williams, George McPhee, Timothy Byram-Wigfield, and David Sanger.
As an organ accompanist and recitalist Andrew has played at many of the major venues in the United Kingdom, and has undertaken tours to Holland, Germany, Austria and North America. He has broadcast on both BBC and independent radio and television and has made a number of CD recordings on various labels.
In addition to his Cathedral duties and organ playing commitments, Andrew undertakes a modest amount of private teaching and is an ABRSM examiner. He is also active as a composer, and some of his choral works are published by Encore Publications.
