Rachel Meredith was born in South Wales in 1958. She attained a BA Honours in music from Bristol University and a PGCE from Cambridge University. She studied violin with Leonard Hirsch, gaining an ARCM in 1980. She has played violin and viola in orchestras in the UK and abroad, including Italy and Greece.
Her teaching commitments include class, small group and individual lessons and she conducts the City of York Youth Symphony Orchestra.
She became an ABRSM examiner in 2003, and is currently co selector for the violin and viola syllabuses for the Board.
