Since 2013 Euroasia has organized competitions to celebrate and identify young talent at various stages of their musical development on various instruments. These events provide an invaluable platform for young musicians to perform and compete at a high level, giving them experience and exposure that will better equip them for future undertakings in their musical journey.
In the recent years there has been a healthy growth of festivals, competitions and other events, though many of these tended to happen in or around Kuala Lumpur. After numerous requests and suggestions from musicians and teachers in Sarawak, Euroasia introduced the first of the Regional Piano Festivals to Kuching, Sarawak in 2016.
The success of the first Festival encouraged Euroasia to follow with two more regional events in 2017: Johor and Kuala Lumpur. The overwhelming response from these festivals led us to introduce the piano festivals also to Kuantan, Penang and Negeri Sembilan from 2018.
In our efforts to encourage high standards in performing skills, and to recognize the achievements of winning participants in the various regions, the national-level Malaysian Piano Competition was established in 2018.
During the pandemic years of 2020-2021, Euroasia adapted to the pandemic by going online, allowing for an even wider panel of adjudicators and more international participation – with young musicians from the United States, Australia, Brunei, China, Singapore, Hong Kong, Indonesia, Japan, Korea, the Philippines, Qatar, the United Kingdom, Taiwan, and Thailand.
The 2022 Competition is in hybrid format – the Preliminary Round as an Online Video Submission, and the Finale event held live.
